Killer Roster and Phases
Meet every Abyssal Escape killer, from X to Fleetway, and learn each phase, ability, and counter tip before your next match.
Why Abyssal Escape Killers Matter in the Phase System
Abyssal Escape killers are the centerpiece of this Roblox asymmetrical game, and they are the reason the usual survivor-versus-monster loop feels different. Each match is shaped by a three-phase system, so choosing the right killer—and understanding how their abilities change over time—matters more than raw chase speed. Because the Abyssal Escape killers do not all follow the same phase pattern, you need a quick read on every move set before you load in.
The phase system is straightforward on paper but nasty in practice. Phase one starts at the beginning of the match and gives every killer their base kit. Phase two begins later and can add smaller buffs. Phase three arrives closer to the end and can deliver stronger buffs or a full transformation with a new move set. That means a killer who feels manageable early can become a completely different problem late.
| Phase | When it begins | What changes | Examples to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Match start | Base abilities and standard M1 damage | X, Furnace, No More Innocence, Fleetway, 2017 X |
| Phase 2 | Later in the match | Small buffs may begin | Not every killer gains a major shift here |
| Phase 3 | Closer to the end | Stronger buffs or a transformation | Furnace, Fleetway, No More Innocence, 2017 X |
Two global rules matter for every matchup. Standard phase-one M1 attacks deal 20 damage, and abilities use stamina rather than running speed. Stamina regenerates passively while running, but slower than while walking. That gives survivors and killers alike a reason to manage ability use instead of spamming every tool the moment a chase starts.
Match length also feeds the phase race. A one-survivor, one-killer match starts with a short timer—roughly three to four minutes—and each additional survivor adds 75 seconds. Dispersing mist in groups of up to four can cut the clock down. The longer the match runs, the more likely phase three arrives, so objective play is not just about escape; it is about denying the killer’s late-game spike.
Abyssal Escape Killers Roster at a Glance
The planned public playtest roster contains five Abyssal Escape killers, and each one pushes a different style. X is the free starter killer and the easiest entry point. Furnace is built around heat management. No More Innocence is a deceiver with map-wide tricks. Fleetway Super Sonic applies aerial pressure and brutal grabs. 2017 X is the hybrid pick that changes form and play style.
| Killer | Core identity | Base kit focus | Phase 3 outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| X | Free starter | Invisibility, ring traps, clone mind games | No transformation; core kit stays central |
| Furnace | Heat resource killer | Mobility, burning slashes, flame pressure | Auto-regenerates heat up to 50% |
| No More Innocence | Deceiver | TV travel, clones, hallucinations | Transforms and gains a new move set |
| Fleetway Super Sonic | Aerial pressure | Flight, laser, grab | Major speed buff |
| 2017 X | Rushdown hybrid | Top speed, spin dash, obsession | Beast form with new M1 and abilities |
Killer variants are limited. X and Fleetway have variants, with Fleetway’s being a slight recolor. X carries three skins, including a 2011 X look and a nostalgia-heavy Disaster X skin. Those cosmetics do not change the matchup knowledge below, but they are worth knowing if you care about presentation.
How Each Abyssal Escape Killer Plays
Use this reference table before the deeper breakdown. It keeps the core abilities and the most important numbers in one place.
| Killer | Base abilities | Transformation or late-phase change | Key numbers |
|---|---|---|---|
| X | Hide and Seek, Ring Trap, Peekaboo | No transformation; rely on the core kit | M1 20; Hide and Seek contact 30; Ring Trap 50; Peekaboo 30 or stun |
| Furnace | Charge Heat, Claw Slash, Scorched Earth; heat powers Thruster Flight | Phase 3 heat regen up to 50% | Charge Heat can be interrupted by stuns; Claw Slash adds burning damage |
| No More Innocence | Screen Transportation, Deceit, Hallucination | Tormenting Dash, Spring Trickery, Yokai Sight | Tormenting Dash deals 30; Spring Trickery slows; Yokai Sight marks and teleports |
| Fleetway Super Sonic | Flight, laser, grab | Major speed buff | Flight reveals survivors and costs stamina; grab deals damage over time |
| 2017 X | Top Speed, Spin Dash, Obsession | Beast form: Roar, Savage Jump, Vicious Grab; Impatience passive | Beast form M1 deals 35; Top Speed reveals survivors |
X
X is the free starter and the cleanest killer to learn. Hide and Seek turns X invisible, leaves a clone behind, reveals every survivor, and deals 30 contact damage if X runs into someone. Ring Trap places a visible red ring; stepping into it costs 50 health, and X can click a visible ring to teleport across the map. Peekaboo surrounds a targeted survivor with shadow clones, including X, creating a guess-heavy mind game that ends in 30 damage or a stunned killer.
X’s weakness is predictability. The ring is huge and visible, so survivors who pay attention should not donate half their health for free. Peekaboo is swingy on both sides: the survivor cannot easily tell which clone is real, but a correct read punishes X. Use Hide and Seek often, place rings along escape routes, and treat Peekaboo as a pressure tool rather than a guaranteed hit.
Furnace
Furnace is a resource-management killer built around heat. Charge Heat locks Furnace in place and fills the heat bar, but stuns can interrupt it. Heat powers Thruster Flight, which reveals survivors while Furnace flies across the map. Heat also upgrades Claw Slash, extending its dash and adding burning damage. Scorched Earth brings out flamethrowers and damages every survivor in front, making it a strong answer to grouped teams.
Furnace’s phase-three buff is serious: heat automatically regenerates up to 50% of the bar. That lets Furnace build resources while moving instead of standing still. Save stuns for Charge Heat, spread out when the flamethrowers appear, and force Furnace to choose between mobility and damage.
No More Innocence
No More Innocence is the trickiest killer in the roster. The map turns gray and desaturated while NMI is active, setting the tone immediately. Screen Transportation lets NMI travel between TVs and reveal all players, but crawling out plays an animation that survivors can see. Deceit spawns a clone of a nearby survivor; if that clone gets close to someone, NMI can teleport into its place. Hallucination darkens nearby survivor vision and sends fake NMI figures running around, opening the door for a sneak attack.
Phase three flips the character. No More Innocence transforms, loses the TVs, and gains Tormenting Dash, Spring Trickery, and Yokai Sight. Tormenting Dash grabs and slams for 30 damage. Spring Trickery places a fake spring that slows survivors who step on it. Yokai Sight marks nearby survivors; while the mark is active, NMI can click the marked survivor to teleport over. Among the Abyssal Escape killers, No More Innocence rewards patience and timing more than raw speed.
Fleetway Super Sonic
Fleetway Super Sonic is direct and dangerous. Flight costs stamina and reveals everyone on the map, and slamming into the ground near a survivor deals damage and knocks them back. The laser requires aim but hits at long range. The grab deals damage over time and becomes much scarier when combined with flight, dragging a survivor away from help and into a wall for extra damage.
Fleetway’s phase-three speed buff is simple and terrifying. There is no transformation to learn, just a faster killer with a kit that already punishes separation. This is one of the Abyssal Escape killers that makes teamwork mandatory; isolated survivors are easy prey, and a team that cannot coordinate stuns and healing will likely end up in graves.
2017 X
2017 X is a two-kit killer. In base form, Top Speed requires charging a red bar by running; once full, it launches a boost that reveals survivors and allows M1 attacks during the rush. Spin Dash is a skill-based damage tool that can rack up value if aimed well. Obsession marks a survivor and gives 2017 X buffs when near them, including reduced stun time, increased movement speed, and cooldown reduction.
Beast form—also known as Broken Face—changes everything. The M1 becomes a ranged ground slam with 35 damage. The Impatience passive makes abilities play out faster. Roar reveals and slows nearby survivors. Savage Jump charges into a pounce. Vicious Grab lets 2017 X grab a survivor and slam them repeatedly. If you like switching play styles mid-match, 2017 X is the most flexible pick of the five.
Best Counters and Team Tips for Abyssal Escape Killers
The biggest mistake survivors make is treating every killer the same. Abyssal Escape killers punish lazy positioning, wasted stuns, and grouped movement. Use the table below as a quick pre-match checklist.
| Killer | Main threat | Survivor response |
|---|---|---|
| X | Ring Trap removes 50 health; Peekaboo forces a guess | Avoid visible red rings; keep a stun ready; do not panic-run into clone clusters |
| Furnace | Scorched Earth hits multiple survivors; heat fuels mobility | Spread out during flame pressure; interrupt Charge Heat with stuns |
| No More Innocence | Deceit clones and hallucinations break tracking; TVs control the map | Avoid clumping; watch TV crawl-out animations; call out hallucinations and reposition |
| Fleetway Super Sonic | Flight reveals everyone; grab drags victims away | Stay near support; save stuns for grabs; avoid isolated chases |
| 2017 X | Top Speed closes distance; beast form changes the chase | Break line of sight before the boost; expect a kit switch in phase three; keep escape routes open |
Stun stacking has a built-in downside: using two stun abilities halves the stun duration of both. That does not make double-stun builds useless, but it does mean variety matters. Phantom Reflex is a different answer—it does not stun immediately, but it prevents damage and gives a speed boost if the killer swings into it. Land it three times in a row and it finally stuns the killer. Healing is valuable, but it locks the user in place and drains a lot of stamina, so it is not a free reset button.
Survivor Loadouts That Help Against Abyssal Escape Killers
Every survivor uses a customizable vessel and chooses two abilities. Only Slide and the Awareness passive are free; every other ability costs rings. That makes loadout planning part of the long-term game, not just a pre-match afterthought. Against Abyssal Escape killers, the best loadout is the one that covers your team’s weakest phase—usually the transition into phase three.
| Ability | Role | Strong against | Cost or limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slide | Mobility | General chase escape | Free |
| Awareness passive | Information | Map awareness | Free |
| Arm cannon | Stun | Charge Heat, grabs, committed chases | Costs rings; weaker when paired with another stun |
| Fireball | Stun | Same as arm cannon | Costs rings; stun duration halves if doubled up |
| Weak punch | Stun | Emergency disruption | Costs rings; stun duration halves if doubled up |
| Heroic boost | Mobility and survivability | Repositioning | Costs rings |
| Phantom Reflex | Parry | Baiting killer M1s | Costs rings; three successful parries in a row stun |
| Healing | Support | Recovery between chases | Locks the user in place and uses heavy stamina |
If your team struggles against Furnace, bring a stun for Charge Heat and spread out before Scorched Earth. Against No More Innocence, avoid clustering so Deceit clones have fewer easy targets. Against Fleetway, keep support nearby because the grab can drag a survivor out of position. Against 2017 X, plan for the phase-three switch instead of assuming the base form is the whole matchup.
For killer mains, the roster offers clear entry points. X is the beginner pick. Furnace suits players who like resource management. No More Innocence is for mind games and map control. Fleetway is straightforward aerial pressure. 2017 X is the pick for anyone who wants two move sets in one match.
